The session starts at 10am – arrival 9.30am for tea or coffee.
The first hour is theory on Honey Bees and their life cycle.
This is demonstrated using a virtual hive enabling you to understand a bees’ life and their work.
After the theory, we kit up in bee suits, light a smoker and will visit the hives on the farm.
I will demonstrate an inspection opening a hive and showing you eggs, larvae and capped brood. You will see the bees at work and hopefully if she is kind to us, you will see the Queen.
You will have the opportunity, if you wish to, to remove frames of bees and or honey, so you can take a closer look. Finally I will show you how honey is extracted and filtered before being put in jars.
